Terms and Conditions
Welcome to Reserva Natural Pingüino Rey. By booking and taking part in a guided visit, each visitor agrees to these Terms and Conditions, which are intended to ensure a safe and respectful experience and, above all, to protect the biodiversity and natural and cultural heritage of Bahía Inútil.
Bookings and Guided Visits
Access to the Reserve is exclusively through guided visits, available on the days and at the times established for each season.
We recommend booking in advance, as spaces are limited for each time slot and day. When making a booking, visitors must provide valid contact information and correctly indicate the total number of people taking part in the visit, including children under 10 years of age.
Bookings are valid only for the date, time, and number of visitors indicated in the confirmation.
Admission Fees and Payment
Current admission fees are those published on our website and official communication channels.
Tickets are paid directly at the Reserve’s ticket office on the day of the guided visit.
Discounts or special admission fees based on age, residency in Tierra del Fuego (Chile), or disability will be applied upon arrival. Visitors may be asked to provide appropriate documentation to verify eligibility, such as an identity document, residency certificate or card, Chilean National Disability Registry (RND) card, or equivalent documentation for international visitors.
Visiting Times
Guided visits begin at scheduled times. We ask visitors to arrive at least 15 minutes before their reserved time to complete the check-in process before the guided visit begins.
As visits are conducted in groups and under conditions designed to minimise disturbance to wildlife, we cannot guarantee admission once the guided visit has begun.
In the event of late arrival, visitors may be assigned a new time slot, subject to availability.
Changes and Cancellations
Requests to change or cancel a booking must be made through the Reserve’s official contact channels.
Reserva Natural Pingüino Rey may modify, reschedule, or cancel a visit when conditions could affect visitor safety, wildlife welfare, ecosystem conservation, or the proper operation of the Reserve.
These situations may include adverse weather conditions, access difficulties, emergencies, conservation or research activities, or other circumstances that require changes to the normal operation of guided visits.
As tickets are paid directly at the ticket office, we kindly ask visitors to let us know in advance if they are unable to attend, so that their reserved spaces can be made available to other visitors.
Weather and Access Conditions
Reserva Natural Pingüino Rey is located in Tierra del Fuego, a region where weather conditions can change rapidly.
Visits may be affected by wind, rain, snow, low temperatures, road conditions, or other conditions characteristic of the region.
For safety or conservation reasons, the Reserve may delay, modify, reschedule, or temporarily suspend a visit.
Before travelling, we recommend checking the weather forecast, road conditions, and our official communication channels for any updates. We also recommend wearing clothing and footwear suitable for Patagonian conditions.
Wildlife Observation
King penguins and the other species found within the Reserve are wild animals living freely in their natural environment.
For this reason, the Reserve cannot guarantee the number of penguins or other animals that will be present during a guided visit, nor their location, behaviour, activity, or proximity to the observation areas.
The presence and behaviour of wildlife may naturally vary depending on the time of year, environmental conditions, and the different stages of their biological cycles.
Wildlife must be observed exclusively from designated areas, maintaining a minimum distance of 50 metres from the penguins.
Code of Conduct
Visitors must follow the instructions provided by our rangers and guides throughout the visit. These measures are intended to protect the Reserve’s wildlife and natural and cultural heritage while ensuring a respectful experience for everyone.
To help protect the Reserve, visitors must:
- Remain on designated trails and within authorised areas.
- Maintain a minimum distance of 50 metres from the penguins.
- Remain calm and avoid noise that may disturb wildlife.
- Not touch, chase, or feed wild animals.
- Not remove plants, stones, archaeological remains, or any other natural or cultural elements.
- Not leave any waste within the Reserve.
- Not bring pets into the Reserve.
- Not smoke along the trails or in observation areas.
- Not consume alcoholic beverages during the visit.
- Not use drones.
- Follow the instructions of the Reserve team at all times.
Failure to comply with the Code of Conduct may result in the visit being ended if a visitor’s behaviour poses a risk or causes disturbance to wildlife, the ecosystem, cultural heritage, other visitors, or the Reserve team.
Photography and Video
Photography and video for personal use are permitted from designated trails, viewpoints, and authorised areas, provided they do not disturb wildlife or interfere with the normal operation of the visit.
Visitors may not leave the trails, cross designated boundaries, or approach animals in order to take photographs or videos.
The use of drones is prohibited due to the disturbance they may cause to wildlife.
Professional, commercial, scientific, documentary, or media productions must be coordinated with and authorised in advance by the Reserve’s administration.
Children and Teenagers
Children and teenagers must remain under the supervision of the responsible adult accompanying them throughout the visit.
The responsible adult must ensure that minors in their care follow the guides’ instructions, remain on designated trails and within authorised areas, and behave appropriately for the respectful observation of wildlife.
Accessibility
The Reserve has infrastructure designed to facilitate the experience of visitors with different mobility needs, including low-difficulty trails, accessible toilets, designated observation areas, and an all-terrain wheelchair.
As we are located in a natural environment and trail conditions may vary, we recommend contacting us in advance if you require assistance or have specific accessibility needs. This will allow our team to provide appropriate guidance before your visit.
Safety
Each visitor is responsible for following the instructions provided by the Reserve team and for considering their own physical condition and individual circumstances when undertaking the visit.
The visit takes place in a natural environment and therefore involves conditions inherent to this type of setting, including changing weather, wind, rain, uneven surfaces, and the presence of wildlife.
The Reserve will take appropriate measures to provide a safe experience. However, due to the characteristics of a natural environment, it is not possible to completely eliminate all risks associated with the visit.
Conservation and Research
Biodiversity conservation is the priority of Reserva Natural Pingüino Rey.
For this reason, certain areas may be temporarily closed, and routes, schedules, or visiting conditions may be modified when necessary to carry out conservation, restoration, monitoring, or scientific research activities, or to safeguard wildlife welfare.
Instructions provided by the Reserve team must be followed at all times.
Personal Data
Personal information provided during the booking process will be used to manage the visit, communicate with visitors, and carry out related administrative procedures.
Personal information will be handled in accordance with applicable regulations and our Privacy Policy.
Changes to These Terms and Conditions
Reserva Natural Pingüino Rey may update these Terms and Conditions when necessary due to operational or regulatory changes, or changes related to the conservation and management of the Reserve.
The current version will always be the one published on our website.
