Visiting the King Penguin Nature Reserve is a unique experience, but it is also an act of responsibility.
To protect the penguins and the entire Bahía Inútil ecosystem, we follow an Observation Code based on our Conservation Management Plan.
This code includes good practices that help minimize the impact of each visit and ensure that wildlife, vegetation, and archaeological remains stay intact.
Basic rules for a responsible visit

Always Stay on the Trail
Do not leave the marked route, as you could damage restoration areas or archaeological sites.

Walk Quietly
Do not shout or imitate animal sounds. Noise disrupts wildlife behavior.

Leave Everything in Its Place
Do not collect stones or remains. Many are part of the historical heritage or provide habitat for local species.

Protect the Animals
Do not feed or touch wildlife. Observe animals respectfully from a distance.

Respect the Vegetation
Do not cut or step on plants. They are native species, grow slowly, and are a vital part of the ecosystem.

Take Photographs Without Flash
Flash photography can frighten or harm wildlife.

Walk Carefully
The ground is uneven, and there are tuco-tuco burrows that we must protect.

Leave No Trace
Take all your rubbish with you. Help us keep the environment clean and balanced.

No Smoking, Drinking Alcohol, or Lighting Fires
Smoking is only permitted in designated areas, such as the car park.

Supervise Children
Always accompany them and teach them to observe respectfully.

Follow the Team’s Instructions
The Reserve staff are here to help you and protect the area.

Keep Your Mobile Phone on Silent
Avoid interruptions and phone calls during the visit.

Observe from a Distance
We maintain a minimum distance from the penguins in accordance with current regulations.

Do Not Use Drones
Drones are prohibited because they disrupt the behavior of wildlife.

Do Not Bring Pets
Domestic animals can cause irreversible impacts.
